Lauren Daigle’s New Album Topped Drake, Post Malone and Ariana Grande in Sales Its First Week

Lauren Daigle’s second studio album, Look Up Child, has already received critical acclaim, but now it has intense commercial success to go with the honors.

Child debuted on the Billboard 200 this week at No. 3 with 115,000 units sold. Daigle is behind commercial titans Paul McCartney (“titan,” LOL) and Eminem, but the album’s beaten out the likes of Drake, Ariana Grande, Mac Miller, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj and Post Malone and the margin is wide.

The debut for Daigle is the best by a solo Christian female artist in nearly 20 years, according to Rolling Stone. The album’s sales would be good enough for No. 1 on the charts in the absence of such legendary company, the magazine says. Arcade Fire’s Everything Now hit No. 1 with 100,000 units sold. Camilla Cabella’s debut was at No. 1 its first week with 110,000. Daigle’s album outperformed both of those chart-toppers.

With these sales, Look Up Child is also the biggest Christian music album of the year and the biggest traditional sales frame for a Christian album in nine years. Nielsen figures show the album has sold well in traditional retail stores as well as through merch bundles and concert bundles.

Dang, looks like we have a star on our hands.
