The Speed of Godliness

I am spending most of this week @ Richmond Hill, a Christian retreat center on the grounds of a hundred year old monastery. The space is quiet. The prayers (morning, noon, evening) form a rhythm for our time. For dinner, we are summoned by a cowbell rung through the halls. (no, not by Christopher Walken)
I am here for a training experience for church planters, and this evening a line from our discussion stays with me:
“the speed of godliness is slow.” {James Houston}
I can’t imagine a line being much truer than this - or much more counter-cultural.

Wow, how reassuring and hopeful that statement is. Love it.
I miss you!
i find a go at “the speed of godliness” when i’m IN Christ. i find i go at the speed of society when i’m trying to be LIKE Christ. there is a difference between IN and LIKE. thanks, man.
