Free Anathallo, For Halloween, and I’m Not There

One of my favorite bands, Anathallo, is playing a show at my old school on November 10th. So for you lucky few in Chicagoland, listen up if you’d like to go see the show for free:

Comment with a list of three ‘non-traditional instruments’ that Anathallo uses when they make music. If you’re an Anathallo fan, you’ll be able to answer this easily. If I get a lot of good answers, I’ll pick a winner at random. easy enough?
hope to see you there! (click up on ‘old school’ if you’d like more info on the show)

and.
Here’s a song to trick or treat to:
No Kids - For Halloween
No Kids are a recent signing to TomLab (the Books, Deerhoof, Final Fantsy), and their debut album will be released in February. This track is an early treat for fans of inoffensive indie dance pop. I like it!

That’s my photo! More of them can be found at http://aquerio.dotphoto.com
1. Handbells
2. Trumpet and rusted pot
3. Feet
Non-traditional instruments:
A deck of cards
Velcro
Chains
Such a good band. Wish I was near Chicago to make it to that show.
tree branches (track 1 of floating world)
socket wrench
bike tire
I don’t live near Chicago, but if I win will you buy me a tee shirt?
hand claps (A Song for Christine, Hoodwink, Dokkoise House)
snaps (A Song for Christine)
chains (Hoodwink, Genessaret)
stomps (Hoodwink, Dokkoise House)
wood blocks (Ame, Genessaret)
velcro strips (Hanasakajijii Three)
other instruments that could be considered “non-traditional”:
stand-alone floor toms
loops/samples (from laptops; they did an amazing cover of a Books song once)
voices singing “ha” (Hanasakajijii One)
Oh well, if I win, give the ticket to someone who needs to expand their musical horizons.
(Although…I wear size small, just in case.)
man, when i read “free anathallo,” i thought they were giving away free tracks…
Dang, I love Anathallo.. Wish I was anywhere near Chi-town…
Three uncommon instruments:
1) Autoharp
2) flugelhorn
3) common object percussion (pipes, chains, etc.)
handbells
autoharp
chains
chains, handbells on one of their newer songs, autoharp.
one time they had an audience pop balloons at the same time…it was awesome. i’ve also seen them bang shoes together and one of their albums (i think it was holiday at the sea) came in dirt and flower seeds.
…that last one wasn’t really an instrument, but if dirt made noise, they’d probably use it.
alright i’m going to say that Jonathon Bukiewicz is our winner. even I didn’t know they used tree branches, but i confirmed this with Matt Joynt. So Jonathon, if you’re reading this, email dylan.peterson@moody.edu and claim your prize (you and one guest on the list at the anathallo show in chicago). congrats!
