Run – no sprint – to S*******s

Author’s note: due to a certain behemoth (and now, I must add, egregiously stingy) coffee corporation’s refusal to pay a certain requested endorsement fee for the fine marketing push they are about to receive, their corporate identity shall not be uttered on these pages. You are just going to have to guess. I’m sorry. Their greedy shortsightedness affects us all.

I’m playing into the vice-grip hands of The Man. I understand this.

truth, I personally have no major beef with the small coffee trader from Seattle, but I know more than a few friends who do – I hear them. I get their point. I will admit, however, that I love my java chip light ________ (name of trademarked frozen coffee beverage that would reveal corporate identity). I love the warm coziness whenever I step inside one of their 5,000 or 6,000 doors dotting the majestic landscape between sea and shining sea, the same consistent earthy decor and warm joe no matter whether I land in Dothan, Alabama or Portland, Maine (however, the coffee retailer that-has-yet-to-be-named located at Lenox Square Mall in Buckhead, Georgia is one exception – not so earthy or cozy there, not so much).

Mainly, though, I am simply not a free man on the issue of this particular coffee shop that is almost as ubiquitous as Subway (almost). If I ever went sour on this vendor of java with the strange nudity-gone-nautical corporate logo, I would have mammoth life issues: my wife Miska might leave me.

However, every Tuesday at this establishment, they pass out cards providing a code for a free itunes download. Today, my friends, I went into this purveyor of fine coffee whose name will never see the light of day on this blog, and I hit the mother load: Willie Nelson and Wynton Marsalis. Willie freakin’ Nelson and Wynton freakin’ Marsalis. Together. Singing “Rainy Day Blues.” That, I would like to tell you, is music.

I assume the same cards are distributed at every location. If so, get there fast (if you could possibly have any clue as to what coffee outlet with their sign drenched in green I could possibly be referring to) and enjoy a classic piece of Americana. For free.
