‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Had the Biggest Opening Weekend of All Time

Early estimates place the opening weekend returns for Avengers: Infinity War at $250 million, making it the highest-earning opening weekend of all time at the domestic box office.

The quarter-billion dollar take isn’t final (confirmed numbers will come in Monday afternoon), but if it holds true, Infinity War will edge out Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which opened to $248 million in 2015, for the all-time record.

Worldwide, Infinity War smashed global records as well, taking in $380 million overseas to the tune of $630 million worldwide (the latter figure is a record, the former is second-highest all-time to last year’s Fate of the Furious). Infinity War, however, has yet to open in China, one of Hollywood’s most profitable foreign markets.

All told, the 19 Marvel movies have grossed a collective $15.5 billion to date, and Infinity War will certainly push that figure to $16 billion. Yeah, these movies aren’t going anywhere.
