The results of Gallup’s annual “Most Admired Man” and “Most Admired Woman” polls were released yesterday, with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton holding down the top spot in each respective year for the 10th straight time. Obama has been voted Most Admired Man every year since 2008, and Clinton has been voted Most Admired Woman every year for the past 16 years.
More significant, perhaps, than the perennial winners were the runners-up. Donald Trump finished behind Obama with 14-percent of respondents saying they admired him most, and beneath Trump were Pope Francis (3-percent) and Rev. Billy Graham (2-percent).
We can’t tell if this is par for the course, or totally unexpected, or totally sad.
