Beck, America’s favorite monosyllabic artist, has announced that his next album will be released exclusively on sheet music, so that fans will have to learn how to play a guitar if they want to hear it. Beck Hansen’s Song Reader will be “released” in December, for anyone to who wants to take a swing at playing it in a Beck-esque manner. This might be the first in a wave of artists looking to subvert the whole illegal download system by releasing albums that can’t actually be downloaded. Expect the next Radiohead album to be released on cassette tape and the next Bjork album to be a completely conceptual experience based purely on each listeners’ individual childhood memories …
