Being the First Lady is hard. Actually, maybe it’s not. Truth be told, very few people know what being the First Lady is like, so it’s all conjecture right now, but it’s easy to see how it could be hard. Your husband works long hours. You spend all your time in front of the Press. Your family lives under the hyper-scrutinous eye of the 24-hours news cycle. Nevertheless, Michelle Obama has found some ways to salve the pain of being First Lady, including getting her copies of Downton Abbey in advance.
An insider told The Sun: “We know it’s very popular in America as it’s so quintessentially British. We’d heard the Obamas liked to watch it but we were very surprised when someone from the First Lady’s office got in touch asking for the series. “They were very polite and we were more than happy to sort out some DVDs for them to send over. Obviously we hope they keep the spoilers to themselves as our US fans may not know about …well, you know what!”
Uhm, no, we do not know what, insider, because we are not the First Lady, which is probably for the best because it’s tough to be the First Lady. But it definitely has its perks …
