Better Oblivion Community Center — otherwise known as the potent team-up between Phoebe Bridgers and Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst — joined up in Seattle for a take on Death Cab For Cutie’s “Title and Registration.” The song is as quintessentially ’00s as music gets and the duo wisely don’t fix what ain’t broke here, barely veering from the song’s bummed-out vibe and letting their harmonies take care of the personal spin.
Better Oblivion is apparently doing a different cover every night of the tour, and judging by what we’ve seen so far, they’re trying to make sure each song was written by a native of wherever they’re playing. This Death Cab cover was played in Seattle, and they played a cover of the Killers’ “Human” in Las Vegas last week. What song will they play when they get to your town? You can see the tour dates below and find out for yourself, but they’ll be in Oberst’s native Omaha, Nebraska in a couple of days, so brace yourself for a Better Oblivion cover of a Bright Eyes classic. Fingers crossed for “Lua.”
