On his inevitable journey to become our nation’s leading youth pastor, Chris Pratt delivered a rousing, sermon-esque speech last night at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Pratt was the recipient of the night’s Generation Award, and as part of his speech he gave nine important life tips for young people to remember. Some highlights:
#1: Breathe. “If you don’t, you’ll suffocate,” Pratt said. Practical.
#2: “You have a soul. Be careful with it.” Wow, wait a minute…are we—are we going sentimental already?
#3: “Don’t be a turd.” Oh, guess not. Wait, hold on, he’s not done: “If you’re strong, be a protector. If you’re smart, be a humble influencer. Strength and intelligence can be weapons, and do not wield them against the weak. That makes you a bully. Be bigger than that.”
#6: “God is real. God loves you. God wants the best for you. Believe that. I do.”
#7: [This one was a whole thing about how to poop at parties. We won’t type it out. But it was a good tip, we admit.]
#8: “Learn to pray. It’s easy. It’s so good for your soul.”
#9: “Nobody’s perfect. You are imperfect. You always will be, but there’s a powerful force that designed you that way, and if you’re willing to accept that, you will have grace, and grace is a gift. That grace was paid for with somebody else’s blood. Don’t forget it. Don’t take it for granted.”
Be right back. We have to grab some tissues and tell everyone we see on the way that we love them.
