Vice is an upcoming movie about Dick Cheney from Big Short director Adam McKay. It’s going to see major awards consideration and, by account of the trailer, should do for Cheney’s political career what The Big Short did for the housing market: make the whole thing exciting and exhilarating to the average schmuck.
The biggest hook for Vice is Christian Bale’s central performance as Cheney. The actor underwent one of his characteristic physical transformations for the part, putting on a ton of weight and sitting for a fair amount of time in the makeup chair. It’s definitely going to see some Oscars consideration. If we’re being honest though, we’re just as pumped for the pieces around Bale.
Sam Rockwell, fresh off his Oscar win for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, is here as George W. Bush. Amy Adams is here as Lynne Cheney. Steve Carell is here as Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Tyler Perry as here as Colin Powell. Jesse Plemons is here as…well, we’re not sure yet, but he’s another dang strong name on this loaded roster.
