
Every year, music lunatics flock to Coachella like salmon to their birthplace, to see what spectacles the world’s (debatably) most popular music festival can dream up. The lineup’s been announced, and it looks to be a pretty thrilling asylum. Phoenix, Blur and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be headlining, with other big names like Wu-Tang Clan, Sigur Rós, Jurassic 5 and Modest Mouse in the wings.
Despite rampant speculation, the Rolling Stones won’t be make an appearance, but Postal Service will be playing their first show in a decade. Also returning with their first new tunes in a while will be Vampire Weekend, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Also, the xx. Local Natives. Metric. Alt-J. Of Monsters and Men. Purity Ring. Somebody should be covering these bands. Sounds like they might have some interesting stories. In any case, the festival will, as ever, rage on at Indio, Calif., and tickets will go on sale here on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m. PST …
