
It’s easy to play Monday morning quarterback for a show like the Grammys—which is know more for its broadcast spectacle than critical credibility. But even some Grammy snubs are hard to ignore. Case and point: Kendrick Lamar, whose album good kid, m.A.A.d city is one of the most acclaimed records of the last two years, got zero awards. But after taking home awards in almost every hip-hop category (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance), along with Best New Artist, even Macklemore felt that Kendrick Lamar, got robbed. In a text to Lamar that he also posted on Instagram, Macklemore wrote:
You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was gonna say that during the speech. Then the music started playing during my speech and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and a friend. Much love
