Disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein is expected to turn himself to the New York City Police Department in relation to the many allegations of sexual misconduct brought against him recently, according to a CNN source familiar with the case.
This news comes right on the heels of a report from the Wall Street Journal, announcing a federal investigation into Weinstein’s sex crimes.
Weinstein is under investigation for sexual misconduct in New York, London and Los Angeles. Dozens of women have come forward with accusations over the past year. Allegations include assault and rape, all of which he and his representatives have unequivocally denied.
The allegations against Weinstein put wind in the sails of the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, which have been calling for greater accountability and systemic changes in relation to sexual misconduct.
“Weinstein’s New York-based attorney, Benjamin Brafman, on Thursday declined to comment on whether his client would turning himself in,” according to CNN.
