This weekend, Houston’s Lakewood Church hosted Kanye West and his Sunday Service musicians for a special event. The performance consisted of a mix of his gospel-oriented originals and versions of pop songs remixed with Christian lyrics.
Earlier in the day, Kanye actually joined the church’s pastor Joel Osteen, for an extended message and personal testimony about his own faith journey. He talked about the dangers of fame and trappings of wealth, while also acknowledging his “arrogance and cockiness.” He went on to add, “Jesus has won the victory. I told you about my arrogance and cockiness already. Now the greatest artist that God has ever created is now working for him.”
Kanye also claimed that “the devil stole all the good producers, all the good musicians, all the good artists, all the good designers, all the good business people,” but said, “the shift, is going to change.”
