The McConaissance continues. The team behind the upcoming Civil War epic The Free State of Jones has released this image from the film, showing star Matthew McConaughey as Mississippi farmer Newt Knight. Based on a true story, the movie tells the story of how Knight—along with a group of freed slaves and fellow farmers—led an uprising against the Confederacy, creating the “Free State of Jones” in Jones County during their own succession.
