The Avett Brothers have released a new song off their upcoming album Closer Than Together, which drops in October.
The video for “ High Steppin” (which you can watch below), features some colorful, backroad imagery, along with Seth Avett portraying a creepy version of death, who delivers a jarring monologue about mortality halfway through the song.
“Each year that goes by, if you’re really longing to observe and be aware, which I am, you just start observing how fleeting [life] is,” Scott Avett told Rolling Stone about the song. “That darkness that’s sort of right there all the time that’s waiting to take over … adds to the riskiness of it.”
