D.J. Soto is an ordained pastor who used to preach at a megachurch. Today, he ministers in virtual reality.
In this recent viral video, Soto explains why he chooses to minister in VR, and why the power of technology can be such a powerful way to reach people who are either uncomfortable going to a physical church or can’t actually leave their homes.
He told Wired that he feels called to reach the “most unreceptive corners of the world and find common ground with outsiders,” and being a gamer, meeting and ministering to people in VR (in this case AltspaceVR, a social media platform available to Oculus users) seemed natural.
