Disney’s got a new king of the trailer game, and he’s working on his roar. That all CGI Lion King remake trailer is now the The House of Mouse’s most-watched trailer in a single day.
The trailer which debuted on Thanksgiving day garnered a whopping 224.6 million views in its first 24 hours, making Disney’s new all-time trailer champ. So give whoever decided to debut the trailer while millennials are back in their parents’ houses nursing a bittersweet sense of nostalgia a raise.
The movie features a murderer’s row of voice acting talent, including Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, John Oliver as Zazu, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon and James Earl Jones returning to Mufasa duty.
The trailer fell just shy of setting the all-time record for most watches in a single day. That honor belongs to Avengers: Infinity War, which has 238 million views. But Marvel’s technically owned by Disney so at, this point, it only has its own records to beat.
The movie will release in July of next year. If you’re one of the half dozen or so people who haven’t seen it yet, you can rectify that below.
