Hulu will join the likes of Amazon and Netflix as the latest streaming content provider to offer more of its own original programming. Hulu, which claims to have doubled its number of paid subscribers in the last year, has announced that its latest slate of original shows includes an animated series from Saturday Night Live star Seth Meyers, called The Awesomes. Back in 2011, Hulu partnered with documentarian Morgan Spurlock and filmmaker Richard Linklater to create new programming for its website, which primarily offers content licensed from TV networks. Along with The Awesomes, Hulu will also feature new shows from Carson Daily, Jay Mohr Chris O’Dowd and others.
Recently, Amazon unveiled several pilot episodes of original shows its developed and is allowing users to vote on which ones they want to see make it into production.
