Gottfried was one of a kind, with one of the most unforgettable voices in comedy. Whether you knew him for any of his hit comedies in the ’90s or as the voice for classic animated characters like Iago in Aladdin, Kaang in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Aflac duck, you definitely knew him. He was the subject of a documentary called Gilbert, which released in 2017.
Gottfried’s friends and fellow comics posted their condolences on social media. Jason Alexander tweeted that Gottfried “made me laugh when laughter did not come easily. What a gift. I did not know him well but I loved what he shared with me.”
