Is James MacDonald Planning a Return to Ministry?

James MacDonald was ousted from the Chicago-area megachurch he founded earlier this year over a barrage of allegations ranging from bullying to financial mismanagement to audio of allegedly him making some shocking, vulgar comments about professional enemies. But MacDonald is saying he’s down but not out, according to screenshots of a private Facebook message obtained by independent reporter Julie Roys.

MacDonald’s comments, which were posted to a private Facebook group called Walk in the World Partners, admitted that it’s been a tough year, but hints at a comeback. “We look to the Lord for forgiveness where I did fail as a leader and for vindication of false statements that will not cover forever what others have done,” MacDonald wrote. “Our broadcast partners are our family now and we will be back soon w[ith] fresh messages from God’s Word. All free—all digital—all the time, as promised.”

What exactly MacDonald has in mind isn’t entirely clear.

Roys’ reporting has been the driving force behind the reckoning of MacDonald’s time at Harvest Bible Chapel. The church initially tried to sue Roys ahead of the publication of her exposé in WORLD Magazine, but Cook County Circuit Judge Diane Larsen denied the motions.
