A mere 67 years after It’s a Wonderful Life became an instant Christmas classic, the Jimmy Stewart tearjerker is getting a sequel. In case you somehow have managed to go your entire life without seeing the inspirational black-and-white holiday blockbuster, the film tells the story of a man who gains a new appreciation for his life after a guardian angel lets him see what his loved ones would have been like if he’d his gotten wish, and never been born. Screenwriter Bob Farnsworth told Variety that It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story “retains the spirit of the original–every life is important as long as you have friends.” The movie is expected to hit theaters in time for Christmas, 2015.
