Jack White’s New Release Sets Vinyl Sales Record

Lazaretto is Jack White’s second number one album of his career, cranking out 138,000 sales in its first week—about the same amount his last album, Blunderbuss, did in its first week. But Lazaretto is notable for having the largest sales week of any vinyl record since 1991, when Soundscan first began tracking vinyl sales. As you might recall, White’s Lazaretto is basically a circus tent of goodies, with secret songs, a hologram of a dancing angel and alternative versions, so it’s no surprise White’s legion of fans want in on the action. Lazaretto knocks Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy off the top spot, a record its held since 1994. You can read our review of Lazaretto here
