This week on The Today Show, Jenna Bush Hager and Savannah Guthrie were discussing a new study that found most adults haven’t made a new friend in five years. They also talked about another study that found people’s moods are shown to be lifted after a conversation with a stranger.
While discussing the research—and the difficulty of connecting with people as adults— Bush Hager relayed a moving story about her daughter’s interaction with another child at church. (The story begins at about the 3:10 mark.)
Bush Hager’s young daughter didn’t want to go to her Sunday school class and leave her mother’s side. However, another child saw that she was upset, and unprompted, came to comfort her.
It’s a nice reminder of the power of kindness no matter how old you are.
