Jimmy Carter Discusses Praying for President Trump and the Teachings of Jesus With Colbert

This week, former President Jimmy Carter with a guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and along with discussing his new book and his feelings about the current political climate in America, the two got into a discussion about prayer and the teachings of Christ.

Both Colbert and Carter are devout Christians, and Colbert directly asked Carter if he prays for President Trump. And despite some of his criticism of the current administration, Carter told Colbert that he regularly prays for him.

“I pray that he’ll be a good president and that he’ll keep our country at peace—that he’ll refrain from using nuclear weapons, and that he will promote human rights.”

Later in the interview, they began to discuss the importance of virtues like faith, hope and love, and the role that courage should play in the lives of people of faith, and even the teachings of Jesus.

(Just a heads up, the interview contains some strong language.)
