The View co-host Joy Behar recently faced widespread criticism after she suggested that Vice President Mike Pence was mentally ill for saying he prays and believes that Christians can hear from God.
Now, she has formally apologized.
According to reports, ABC received more than 30,000 angry phone calls in response to her comments, and it even came up on a recent investors call. A shareholder asked Disney CEO, Bob Iger, “What do you say to the tens of millions of Christians, and President Trump supporters, that your networks have so blatantly offended and ascribed hateful labels?”
Iger responded, “I don’t know where I start. First of all, Joy Behar apologized to Vice President Pence directly. She made a call to him and apologized, which I thought was absolutely appropriate.” He also said, “I don’t think it was right,” in reference to Behar’s comments.
A source told Fox News, “She apologized to the vice president, he accepted and said he wasn’t offended by her comment for his own sake but on behalf of the millions of Christians who watch ABC and her show. He encouraged her to make the same apology publicly on the show that she did privately to him.”
On the show, she said that she herself is a Christian, and the comment was meant as a joke.
