According to the Los Angeles Times, Fox Searchlight Pictures is working on a big screen biopic of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien. Considering his film adaptations have raked in billions of dollars at the box office, the author obviously has a sizeable audience who’d be interested in his story. Beyond his fantasy novels, Tolkien had a pretty interesting personal life. Before he became friends with fellow writer C.S. Lewis and help create the Inklings writers’ group, Tolkien fought in World War I and later assisted the Allies as a code-breaker during World War II.
