Justin Bieber: ‘Jesus Restored My Identity. I’m Not a Product. I’m a Son’

Justin Bieber shared a series of posts on Instagram ahead of Christmas reflecting on his faith and the role it has played in his life. In the posts, the singer spoke candidly about navigating fame, loss and the long process of healing, offering a rare and measured look at how his relationship with God has shaped him over time.

“Christmas time is that time to reflect and ask yourself what you really want,” Bieber wrote. “What truly fulfills?”

The posts arrive at a moment when Bieber has largely stepped back from the public eye. Once one of the most visible pop stars in the world, he has spent recent years pulling away from constant touring and public scrutiny, choosing a quieter life centered on marriage, faith and recovery. In his writing, he acknowledged how early success came with a cost he did not fully understand at the time.

“I grew up in a system that rewarded my gift but didn’t always protect my soul,” he wrote. “There were moments I felt used, rushed, shaped into something I didn’t fully choose.”

Bieber has spoken openly in the past about the pressures of fame, but these reflections carried a more settled tone. Rather than revisiting past controversies or assigning blame, he framed his experience as one of learning how to live with what he has been through.

“I’ve carried anger,” he wrote. “I’ve asked God why. But Jesus keeps meeting me in the middle of the pain — not excusing what hurt me, but teaching me how not to become bitter.”

Throughout the posts, Bieber returned to the idea that healing is not a single moment but an ongoing process. He described growing up in an environment that took more than it gave, and the slow work of separating his sense of worth from public approval.

“I’ve been through pain that shaped me before I had the words for it,” he wrote. “I was in a system that took more than it protected. But I’m not speaking as someone still broken. I’m speaking as someone Jesus has healed.”

That healing, he noted, does not mean ignoring the past or pretending harm never happened.

“What happened to me was real,” he wrote. “But it doesn’t get the final word. Jesus didn’t just help me cope. He restored my identity.”

Bieber also reflected on forgiveness, framing it not as a moral obligation but as a necessary step toward freedom.

“Because I’m healed, I can forgive,” he wrote. “Not to excuse what happened. Not to pretend it didn’t hurt. But so it doesn’t keep living through me.”

The posts follow a period of relative quiet from the singer, who has stepped back from touring and public appearances. Earlier this month, he surprised fans during a Twitch livestream when he broke into an impromptu moment of worship, offering a glimpse into how central faith has become in his everyday life.

“I don’t want to burn the industry down,” he wrote. “I want to see it made new. More honest. More human.”
