When The Complete History of Indie Music is written, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will get their own chapter. The band is as responsible as anyone for taking the genre from CD-bin oddity to national force, and “Maps” is one of the great music achievements of the last decade. And now, frontwoman Karen O is releasing her own album on Julian Casablancas’ (another guy who will get some space in the aforementioned hypothetical book) new label. Karen O’s album will be called Crush Song and she released this description of the album.
“When I was 27 I crushed a lot. I wasn’t sure I’d ever fall in love again. These songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever continuing love crusade. I hope they keep you company on yours.”
