Your dream of being a in a Left Behind movie may soon become a reality. The makers of Nicolas Cage’s Left Behind reboot, which opened to a 2% Rotten Tomatoes rating when it released last fall, are attempting to raise $500,000 to make a sequel. Just for context, last year’s Cage version cost $16 million. Sure, the budget constraints may leave you with some doubts about the quality of the action epic, which depicts a very literal version of the book of Revelation, but just listen to these perks. For $200 you can “Be one of the ‘raptured’ by having your image featured on the ‘Missing Persons’ wall in a special, limited edition Left Behind 2 movie poster!” For $500 you can have your name listed in the credits. For $750 you can “be included on a wall in the background of the film as one of the raptured missing persons.” For $2,500, you can be an extra.
Sadly, yet totally unsurprisingly, the $7,500 level—which lets you get an actual speaking role in the film—is sold out. On the Inidegogo page, the film’s producer said, “There is a lot of story to tell. And ultimately, until my last breath or until the Lord returns, I will be pushing to bring the entire story of the end-time prophecies to the big screen.” Considering the first film covered just the first few pages of the 16-volume novel series, we may be looking at A LOT more Left Behind in the coming decades …
