Good news for people who love good news. It’s been ages since we had a proper release from Modest Mouse—the undeniably odd but frequently brilliant band who did more than almost anyone to legitimize indie rock as a viable genre. Their last full-length release was We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank in 2007, but now there’s a new album that’s set for release in “the first quarter” of 2015. A cryptic Instagram post suggests the album’s title might be “Lampshades on Fire,” but that could also just be the name of the first single, which will release next Monday, December 15. Float on.
