
They are two of literature and Christianity’s greatest modern writers, and now, C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien will be the subject of their own movie. According to the studio, Tolkien & Lewis—which will have an $18 million budget—is “a drama fantasy set in war torn Britain in 1941 revealing the faith, friendship, and rivalry between J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis,” the British authors of iconic books including the Lord of the Rings trilogy and the Chronicles of Narnia. As EW notes and fantasy fans are well aware, both writers were teachers at Oxford, fought in WWI, were prominent Christian thinkers and later rivals. Though no casting details have been released yet, it will be directed by Simon West, the man behind blockbusters including Con Air and The Expendables 2, so we should probably expect a lot of explosions …
