Channing Tatum, who is essentially this decade’s version of Patrick Swayze, is now taking that comparison a step further: He’s set his sights on remaking the iconic ’90s movie Ghost.
In a recent Vanity Fair profile, Tatum casually drops the bombshell that his production company, Free Association, “actually [has] the rights” to the film. And, in true Tatum fashion, he’s planning on taking on the Patrick Swayze role.
(If you haven’t seen it, Swayze dies and turns into a ghost that haunts his girlfriend. There’s also pottery involved. Or something like that.)
Tatum is fully aware of the challenges that come with remaking such a beloved film. So, to avoid comparisons, he’ll be taking his Ghost in a new direction, thankyouverymuch.
“I think it needs to change a little bit and have our…,” he said, trailing off mid-sentence.
Changing a classic. Yep, that’s a strategy that almost always turns out great.
