Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington doesn’t just believe in Divine moments—he says he’s experienced them. In a recent interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra’s Nadia Jae, Washington shared the story of the moment when he saw the face of God.
“I was on a yacht listening to music and praying, and there was a song on called ‘The Face of God,'” the Gladiator II star said. “And I prayed, ‘Lord, everyone’s singing about the face of God, and I want to see Your face.’ And then I heard, ‘Turn to your left.'”
Denzel immediately turned and pulled out his phone to take a picture of what appeared to be a face in the clouds.
Washington, an outspoken Christian, has spoken previously about the power of prayer in both his personal life and his decades-long career.
“I always start the day with prayer,” Washington told RELEVANT back in 2021. “There’s all kinds of little miracles that you run into that you didn’t anticipate.”
Throughout the last decade, Washington has intentionally looked for ways to share his faith journey with others using his platform.
“Through my work, I have spoken to millions of people,” he said. “In 2015, I said I’m no longer just going to speak through my work. I’m going to make a conscious effort to get up and speak about what God has done for me.”
