Joel Smallbone, one-half of the Grammy-winning Christian band For King + Country, has officially joined the cast of Young Washington, the upcoming historical drama from Angel Studios and Wonder Project.
He’ll play William Fairfax, a wealthy British power player who ends up becoming a rival to a young George Washington—both politically and romantically.
According to the story, Washington falls hard for Fairfax’s daughter, Sally. The problem is, William has other plans—and they don’t involve handing over his daughter to an ambitious 20-something colonist with daddy issues and no formal title.
The series is based on the bestselling biography by Ron Chernow (the same author behind Hamilton), and stars William Franklyn-Miller as the not-yet-president. The rest of the cast includes some heavy hitters: Sir Ben Kingsley as Governor Dinwiddie and Andy Serkis as General Braddock. It’s being directed by Jon Erwin, the creative mind behind Jesus Revolution and House of David, and is scheduled to drop July 4, 2026—because, of course it is.
