A24 is cooking up a new Anthony Bourdain biopic, with The Holdovers breakout star Dominic Sessa taking on the role of the iconic chef.
Tony will follow the beginning of the late celebrity chef’s career, which started in restaurants across Manhattan in the 1980s and ’90s. But it was his 2000 book Kitchen Confidential that put him on the map. Bourdain went on to become a staple in the media food scene, gaining a massive following of fans who appreciated his angsty, no-nonsense attitude, and his taste for the finer things in life. He shared his passion for cultures and food as a host/guide of several television series for the Travel Channel, CNN and PBS.
“I like to eat what’s good and what’s considered good by the locals where it’s good,” Bourdain told RELEVANT in 2012. “If I’m eating pho, I like to eat a good bowl of pho in Vietnam, sitting on a little plastic stool with Vietnam in the background. I want to smell Vietnam, I want to hear it, and I’d like to see it in a perfect world. I think it is a major component of the experience.”
Tony is being developed by Star Thrower Entertainment, the production company behind Oscar-nominated King Richard (a.k.a., the reason why Will Smith was at that Oscars ceremony).
