Wonder Woman 2 is set to come out next year, and Warner Bros. is rushing to fill out the movie’s roster. Earlier this week, we learned that the villain for the sequel would be Cheetah, a common Wonder Woman adversary in the comic books. Deadline Hollywood reports that Kristen Wiig is director Patty Jenkins’ top choice to play the baddie.
Nothing is locked in yet, but Wiig has reportedly met with Warner Bros. top execs, and Jenkins told Wiig she’d love her for the part before she began location scouting for the new movie. Wiig’s never been in a superhero film, and with roles like Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters to her credit, it’s not super clear how she’ll portray an evil villain opposite Gal Gadot’s already iconic hero.
Cheetah’s a cool character, by the way. She has superspeed and superstrength (classic cheetah-esque powers), and early iterations of the villain made her actually look like a cheetah, too. As far as villains-who-look-like-animals go, you can do way worse than a cheetah. They’re vicious and mean and lean and cunning. We’re onboard for cheetahs, is what we’re saying.
Wonder Woman 2 is set to come out November 1, 2019. It will have at least one cheetah in it.
