Hollywood is taking yet another swing at the Jesus story—because why not? This time, it’s The Last Supper, a new biblical drama hitting theaters March 14. Directed by Mauro Borrelli, it stars Jamie Ward (His Dark Materials) as Jesus and James Faulkner (Game of Thrones) as Caiaphas, with a supporting cast of actors you’ll recognize but might not immediately place.
The trailer just dropped, and—surprise—it features all the usual hits: Jesus breaking bread, Peter looking conflicted, tables getting wrecked, and the inevitable betrayal. Chris Tomlin (yes, that Chris Tomlin) is on board as an executive producer, which means you can probably expect a stirring soundtrack moment designed to make your youth group leader cry.
The real question is: Will The Last Supper bring something fresh to a story that’s been adapted approximately 4,000 times, or will it just be another cinematic retelling where everyone looks vaguely European? Hard to say. But if you’re in the mood for some pre-Easter dramatics, you can find out when it hits theaters March 14.
