Everyone’s mileage varies on the state of the most recent trilogy of Star Wars movies. Some people aren’t feeling the new(ish) direction. Some people dig it. (The latter are on the right side of history). But people of all opinions can agree that this franchise knows how to put together one crazy good trailer. Just look at it! Even if you didn’t like The Last Jedi how can you not feel a little thrill at that score?
Episode IX had a little pre-production drama. Director Colin Trevorrow was originally picked to direct the movie but got yanked from the project after his Jurassic World followup The Book of Henry debuted to some of the most infamously terrible reviews in recent Hollywood memory. J.J. Abrams was put back on Star Wars duty and, well, here we are.
The movie will wrap the Skywalker saga, and Disney plans on putting a temporary hiatus on new Star Wars movies after it comes out, although a Mandalorian series is headed for Disney Plus.
