Taika Waititi’s back in the Marvel saddle for Thor: Love and Thunder, which reunites Chris Hemsworth and his magic hammer for another space-spanning jaunt across the galaxy. Oh, and speaking of galaxy, Chris Pratt and the rest of the Guardians are all here, promising that the MCU will continue to spread as many of its characters across its disparate franchises as possible. We also get a very brief glimpse of Russell Crowe, who will be playing Asgardian rival god Zeus, from the Greek Pantheon. And, in truly epic fashion, the franchise welcomes back Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster as a whole new Thor.
Nowhere to be seen is Christian Bale, who is playing the villainous Gorr the God Butcher, an intergalactic menace who, in the comics, travels the spaceways killing the MCU’s various lower-g “gods” for being so bad at their jobs. But we do see Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, reigning over New Asgard, Waititi’s extraterrestrial pal Korg and a couple of flying goats. And Guns N’ Roses! All things considered, plenty to look forward to when this movie drops in July.
