A Quiet Place: Part II was one of the first movies derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s only fitting that it be one of the first to welcome fully vaxxed film-lovers back to the theaters. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s return to a not-so-distant future overrun by giant, sound-sensitive monsters looks like every bit the nailbiter that made the first one such a unique, creative (anxiety-inducing) feast. Hopefully, it’ll also be full of the same exploration of love and family that made A Quiet Place so moving as well.
The sequel picks up immediately after the events of the first one, as the Abbott family ventures off their well-fortified farm with a newborn in tow. Keeping a baby quiet isn’t easy under the best of conditions, which these emphatically are not, so we’ll have to see just how innovative Evelyn and the gang get when it comes to staying alive and keeping it down. What’s the worst that could happen? Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou join the adventure this time, though it’s not clear from these trailers exactly whose side they’re on. You really can’t trust anyone in a post-apocalyptic hellscape overrun by monsters.
A Quiet Place: Part II is very likely to be an enormous hit and one of the first post-COVID box office behemoths. It’ll drop in theaters only(!) on May 28 and then head to Paramount+ just 45 days later.
