A few weeks back, Sufjan Stevens announced that he and his stepfather Lowell Bram had completed work on an instrumental album inspired by the scores to movies like Blade Runner, Hereditary, Under the Skin and The Last Temptation of Christ. The project, a 21-track “mostly instrumental” album called Aporia is now releasing early: early, as in Tuesday, March 24. The whole thing will be available at all the usual spots, and Asthmatic Kitty’s social media account encouraged fans to support their local record stores and utilize the curbside pickup service, if possible.
Plus, Sufjan will premiere the whole album via livestream Monday, March 23 (that’s today!) at 3pm EST. You’ll be able watch and listen at the link below.
There’s also a brand new batch of Aporia t-shirts. 50 percent of the proceeds from the shirts and the album will go to No Kid Hungry and Partners in Health — two “food-focused” COVID-19 charities. The shirt will go on sale at 3:45 EST here.
Also, Asthmatic Kitty has released two new playlists. One is a list of songs Bram has shared with Sufjan over the last “30-40 years”. You can listen to that below. Sufjan also released his own curated playlist of “‘new-age’ mood music by some of his favorite artists”. You can check that out at this link.
There’s a lot more information about all this over at Asthmatic Kitty’s website.
