Today, a London court dismissed six charges of sexual assault against British singer–songwriter Rex Orange County, according to BBC News. The charges were filed earlier this year against the artist, who denied a woman’s allegations of unwanted touching.
In a statement, Orange County said that independent evidence, including CCTV footage and a witness account, had failed to support the allegations. This evidence was not seen as sufficient by the Crown Prosecution Service to meet its test for prosecution.
“I have always denied these allegations and am grateful that the independent evidence has cleared me of any wrongdoing,” the singer said in his statement. “I have never assaulted anyone and I do not condone violence or abusive behaviour of any kind.”
Orange County was due to stand trial in January.
