When God closes a Kanye West, He opens an Arcade Fire. Pitchfork reports that Win Butler and Co. are performing a surprise spot at Coachella, which kicks off tomorrow.
It’s the latest in a shifting Coachella lineup, which lost headliner Kanye to drama earlier this month, and was able to wrangle The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia to replace him. It’s not clear if Arcade Fire is a late addition or a long-planned secret, but the band is releasing their long-awaited WE next month, so they make sense.
So far, all we’ve heard off of WE is “The Lightning I, II” but don’t be surprised if we get some new tunes to go along with the Coachella set.
In addition to headliners like Harry Styles and Billie Eilish, Coachella-goers will see acts like Phoebe Bridgers, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Doja Cat, Run the Jewels, Jamie xx, Carly Rae Jepsen, Vince Staples, Japanese Breakfast, Baby Keem, Caribou and tons more. You can hear “The Lightning I, II” below.
