It’s finally happening. Sky Ferreira has announced that something is coming soon. Is it an album? Just a single? A whole music film production? We don’t know, but we will take anything we can get at this point!
Ferreira teased the announcement on her Instagram with an 18-second video of a song called “Don’t Forget” and the caption “remember me?” As if we could forget! Fans have been (im)patiently waiting for Ferreira’s triumphant return, ever since she dropped “Downhill Lullaby” back in 2019 — six years after her previous album Night Time, My Time. Does this mean we’re getting a new album? Or just a new song? Or maybe an EP? Hard to say, since Ferreira’s been teasing new music since the Obama Administration and her fans don’t have much to show for it. That said, hard not to respect an artist who takes her time and waits until she’s got something to say. And clues suggest that time is night.
We’ll continue to play this tiny part of her singing “oh no, I won’t forget” on repeat for as long as we have to. Because don’t fret, Ferreira, we haven’t forgotten about you.
