Singer DaniLeigh is stepping into a new chapter—one of faith, renewal and a public commitment to Jesus. The R&B artist shared a video of her decision on Instagram, revealing she had been baptized on Sunday at a Vous Church baptism service.
“The day my father was born is now the day my mom and I are reborn,” she captioned the post, referencing how her baptism aligned with her late father’s birthday. “Thank you Jesus for opening your doors of heaven to my daddy, there’s no way I couldn’t publicly claim you and share how great you are!”
Last year, DaniLeigh also shared a video encouraging her fans to really dig into their own relationship with God.
“I haven’t felt like I’ve loved myself in probably the last four or five years,” she admitted, “but when you really start to love God, you start to see the beauty in yourself. When I tell you I feel so much prettier, like I feel the glow, and it’s all because I’ve been serving at church. I’ve been going to Bible study every week, going to church every Sunday, tithing—just showing a lot of discipline and growing the relationship.
“It’s been so refreshing, especially during this time, losing my dad and everything,” she continued. “I’m really grateful that I’ve gained this relationship because it feels really, really good. I just wanted to encourage you guys to try your best to grow your relationship with Him.”
The 30-year-old Miami-born artist, whose real name is Danielle Leigh Curiel, first broke into the industry as a dancer, working with Pharrell Williams and Nelly Furtado before catching the attention of Prince, who mentored her and had her direct his “Breakfast Can Wait” music video at just 18. She later signed with Def Jam and built a name for herself with her signature mix of R&B, hip-hop and Latin influences.
