Coachella wound down last weekend, following a tumultuous couple weeks of headliner shifting after Kanye West removed himself from the conversation. But there were still lots of fun surprises in store for Coachella goers. Harry Styles dueting with Lizzo! Harry Styles dueting with Shania Twain! But it’s hard to top the terrific surprise appearance of Hayley Williams during Billie Eilish’s set, when the two covered Paramore’s “Misery Business” with a little help from Finneas.
Williams stuck around to join Eilish for her hit “Happier Than Ever,” which felt like a very appropriate passing of the baton, as Eilish is certainly aware that Williams blazed the trails she’s now shining in. You can watch that video here. Given the benefit of hindsight, it’s pretty wild just how much of the modern pop scene — from Eilish to Olivia Rodrigo — is walking in Williams’ shadow. Justice for Paramore fans!
