Midnights is here. One of the most anticipated albums of the year reunites the world’s Swifties with the woman of the (very literal) hour. Taylor Swift’s latest effort contains all the usual eviscerations, examinations and exorcisms we’ve come to expect from this woman, but one thing it doesn’t have? Very much Lana Del Rey.
Yes, the much-hyped collaboration between two of this generation’s best-loved and most gifted songwriters turns out to be mostly a Taylor Swift song, with a few chorus assists floating in the background like sad ghosts. “Snow on the Beach” is a pretty song, and apparently the two wrote it together along with mutual pal and producer Jack Antonoff, but if you didn’t know Del Rey was featured on the song you probably wouldn’t guess it.

Well, no harm no foul for Swifties, who still got a full album and a (surprise) half of new songs to comb through for easter eggs. Lana Del Rey fans will just have to wait for Lana’s new album. Oh wait.
