Lorde’s Solar Power lands this Friday, marking the end of Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor’s four-year hiatus from music. We’ve already heard the summery title track and the gloomier “Stoned at the Nail Salon,” and now she’s dropped “Mood Ring.” This latest track, which she wrote and produced with Jack Antonoff (as usual), is a meditation on “wellness” and the ways it can all get a little eye-roll-y.
Joel Kefali co-directed the video with Lorde, which finds the (newly blonde) singer and her pals in some sort of wellness center. “I can’t feel a thing,” she muses, fiddling with incense, crystals, rocks and other assorted GOOP-approved goodies. “I’m tryna get well from the inside/ Plants and celebrity news/ All the vitamins I consume/ Let’s fly somewhere eastern, they’ll have what I need.”
